Master’s thesis Defenses for the students enrolled in Intake 01
The EMIMEO consortium organised most of the Master’s thesis defences on Thursday 02 September 2021 in Limoges (France).
The consortium has developed a joint approach between the partner universities in order to participate in the evaluation of the Master’s thesis defences for most students.
So, in the morning was dedicated to the student who had already defended their Master Thesis or who will perform it in October 2021 according to the specific ruling of the home university. The students made 15 minutes presentations. 05 minutes were dedicated to the question by a joint jury of professors from the partner universities.
The presentation topics were as follows:
- OPTIcal liMIting and SwiTching with nanoscale photonic structures (OPTIMIST)
- Linear and nonlinear optical processes in all-dielectric nanoresonators in the strong depleted regime
- Design of linear metalens with AlGaAs nano antennas on a sapphire substrate
- Propagation of EM waves in biological tissues
- Investigation of the data properties of multimodal images with respect to experimental meta data
- Investigation of the data properties of multimodal images with respect to experimental meta data
Then, in the afternoon, other students enrolled at the University of Limoges and the University of the Baque Country performed their Master’s thesis defences. Each jury was different for each student. Professors from the University of Limoges, the University of Brescia, the University of Aston and the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca were taking part in the evaluation of the student. Most of us went to Limoges for the event and a few professors were online.
During the defences, 20 minutes were dedicated to the student presentation and 15 minutes for the question.
The defence topics were as follows:
- Generation of sub-two-cycle pulses in the mid-infrared
- Design of highly anisotropic optical metasurfaces
- Design of highly anisotropic optical metasurfaces
- Ka-band receive antenna array with integrated amplification and control circuits
The event was held in a hybrid manner which means that it was also broadcasted online. The EMIMEO students from all the batches were invited to follow the events. Some students followed the event face-to-face.
